Oscar 2013: Best picture goes to a film that directed itself

Producer Grant Heslov might have topped Daniel Day Lewis' Iron Lady zinger as he stood on stage flanked by co-producers George Clooney and Ben Affleck at the Oscars.

"I know what you're thinking," said the somewhat nebbishy Heslov, "the three sexiest producers in Hollywood."

Argo took the award for best picture on a night with no clear sweep for anyone. Siver Linings Playbook scored the award for best actress, Lincoln for best actor, Django Unchained took two in major categories (supporting actor and screenplay), and Life of Pi took four, the biggest for best direction.

Speaking of which, as was subtly noted by Heslov as he passed the mike to a conspicuously nomination-free Ben Affleck, Argo is a film that apparently directed itself.
