If you study or work at UBC's Point Grey campus, you may already be familiar with Sprouts. With the aim of promoting food security, the student-run organization operates a grocery store and café in the depths of the SUB.

In late January, Sprouts expanded with a second vegetarian café. Seedlings is located on the fourth floor of Thea Koerner House (6371 Crescent Road), also known as the Graduate Student Centre.

The new café serves breakfast and lunch at affordable prices. There's plenty of vegan, raw, and wheat-free options.

Breakfast offerings (each $3 and under) include yogurt and granola, toast, and a quinoa bowl with apple, raisins, toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, vanilla, and cinnamon. On the lunch menu, there's a quinoa curry bowl, raw “noodle” bowl, chickpea burger, and seasonal soup ($3.75 each). The café also sells baked goods and drinks.

Seedlings is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
