Game of Thrones season three—it's getting closer. Also, beer.

The other night I was lucky enough to see, along a theatre full of other guests, a sneak peek of the first episode of the third season of Game of Thrones at Scotiabank Theatre.

The event was put on by HBO Canada and Movie Central, and while I can’t give away any spoilers, I will say that it starts where it left off from season two with the Night’s Watch out in the middle of a snow storm worthy of the ice planet Hoth.

You’re then taken around the kingdom to catch up with the other characters in the realm. I was sucked in again—immediately. So much of the dialogue is great, with my favourite lines so far being, “There’s a beast in every man, and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand.”

In related news, the show is so popular that it has its own beer coming out. Brewed by Omme Gang Brewery, Iron Throne blonde ale hits local liquor stores in April. You might want to grab a stein of beer (or a cask of wine) when the new season of GOT debuts on HBO Canada next Sunday (March 31).

Meanwhile, here’s a great Princess Bride/Game of Thrones mashup promo. (Spoiler alert).  And be sure to enter the contest to win your own Iron Throne.
