The Rio Theatre presents screenings of The Rep, Morgan White’s documentary about repertory cinema, on April 1, 2, 4, 7, and 9. Screenings start at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for ages 19-plus, with an all-ages matinee screening on April 1 at 4 p.m.

The Rep follows three friends who own and operate the Toronto Underground Cinema over the course of a year, looking at issues such as changes in cinematic consumption, the importance of going to cinemas, and the need for the preservation of historical theatres, including Vancouver’s Hollywood Theatre, The Ridge, and Granville 7.

The Rep premiered at the 2012 Austin Film Festival. The film’s screenings at the Rio Theatre mark its Canadian premiere.

Tickets to screenings of The Rep are $6 to $10 and can be purchased online in advance.
