The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors pianist Daniil Trifonov

The Vancouver Chopin Society presents Daniil Trifonov at UBC’s Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road) on April 10 at 8 p.m. The young Russian pianist will perform a program that includes Scriabin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff.

Trifonov was born in 1991 in Nizhniy Novgorod. In his short career, he has established himself as one of the world’s leading young pianists, recently signing a recording contract with Deutsche Grammaphon Records.

Trifonov first performed for the Vancouver Chopin Society when he was 16, and returned at the age of 18 to place third in the 2010 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Following his performance in Vancouver, Trifonov will perform with the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
