Black Sabbath will turn Vancouver into headbanger heaven this summer

Live Nation has just announced that legendary British metal act Black Sabbath will play Vancouver on Thursday, August 22.

So you won't have to drive Stateside to the Gorge, after all.

I have only one response to that: FUCKIN-AAAAAAAAA!

Okay, maybe that's being a little over-enthusiastic, since original drummer Bill Ward--the guy whose playing on "War Pigs" caused me to wear out my parents' basement furniture pretending I was a drummer without a drumkit--isn't in the lineup.

But still. I haven't heard riffmaster Tony Iommi in action for quite some time. Not since that Heaven and Hell gig back in 2007, probably.

And Ozzy went back on the bottle recently, so maybe his singing has improved.

We should find out when the band's new Rick Rubin-produced album, 13, is released on June 11.

All I know is, I'm going. Might even wear a black crucifix, if I can find one cheap somewhere.

Tix go on sale next Saturday (May 4) at Live Nation, priced from $29 to $139.

I'm sure you and the other 300 or so fans will have a good time. Ozzy and Black Sabbath are extremely boring with their one horse act.

I miss Dio. Saw the true lineup at ozzfest 2005 at the Gorge. Where Ozzy sang from the telepromptor and may have been dubbed. The best part was when he stormed off for a 20 min jam where the band killed. other than that Maiden absolutely destroyed them...and pissed off Sharon

Oh, man am I conflicted about this. I would LOVE to see Ozzy with Sabbath, but what are the chances it will live up to my hopes? And this show ain't cheap. Hmmm....

you could always pick up a $29 ticket and hope Ozzy's vocals aren't a disaster

Very disappointed that Black Sabbath are not coming to Edmonton. I hope they will stop here on their next tour. Who cares about the teleprompter? Give Ozzy a break, after 45 years of singing. he has a lot of words to remember! We love you Ozzy!! if you're looking for a WILD crowd that appreciates you, COME TO EDMONTON.
