Power outage affects East Van, Chinatown

A power outage this afternoon (April 26) between Cambie Street and Nanaimo Street has affected a large part of East Vancouver and into the downtown area.

According to B.C. Hydro's power outage web page, a substation fault has caused residents of Chinatown, parts of Mt. Pleasant, Grandview-Woodland, Olympic Village, Hastings-Sunrise, and the Commercial Drive neighbourhoods to be without power commencing at 1:50 p.m.

B.C. Hydro stated that power is expected to be restored between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

CBC News reported that 13,000 customers are affected.
