Snow in Saudi Arabia

Extreme weather appears to have hit the Saudi peninsula—but not in the form of sky-high temperatures that can fry an egg.

Al Arabiya has reported that the northwestern city of Hael was blanketed in snow.

It's not unprecedented—the video above shows another snowfall in Saudi Arabia in December 2008.

But the most recent unusual weather pattern has occurred at the end of April, which is hardly the dead of winter.

Meanwhile, hail and flooding have hit in other Saudi provinces over the weekend, according to Al Arabiya.
