Vancouver's Twisted Twins tapped for The ABCs of Death 2

Magnet Releasing revealed the line-up for its The ABCs of Death sequel at Cannes today, and Vancouver's Jen and Sylvia Soska—currently riding a big wave with American Mary—are among those who have signed on to direct a segment in the newest anthology.

Otherwise known to adoring horror fans as the Twisted Twins, the Soskas will join other genre insurgents such as Larry Fessenden, Alex De La Iglesias, Sion Sono, Room 237's Rodney Ascher (interviewed by the Straight here), and Lithuania's Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper—we talked to the former when their exquisite erotic sci-fi flick Vanishing Waves played at the Rio Grind festival last year. Also involved this time around is legendary animator Bill Plympton.

The first ABCs of Death is a 26-segment anthology film that gathered up some of the most interesting youg talent working in genre cinema, including Kaare Andrews, yet another Vancouverite. With everyone receiving a $5000 budget, a letter of the alphabet, and free reign to do whatever they want with it, the results naturally vary. But we liked the first one more than we didn't.

Meanwhile, look for our interview with American Mary herself, Katharine Isabelle, in the May 30 issue of the Georgia Straight.
