From burlesque costumes to commuter cycling apparel, B.C.’s biggest student-run fashion show once again promises to be a must-see event.

On April 9, 39 designers will showcase collections for men, women, and children in Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s 2015 Fashion Show at the River Rock Casino.

There will be casual wear inspired by the Far East, plus-size corporate clothes, organic kidswear, and dozens of other ideas brought to the runway by four years of rigorous design education.

Presented by Tamoda Apparel, the industry-grade event is organized each year by fashion design and technology students graduating from KPU’s Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design. The show features each student’s capstone project, which is designed to meet an underserved or non-existent niche market. This year’s show will also have a strong emphasis on slow, sustainable fashion.

Over the next several weeks, KPU’s fashion marketing students will highlight the 2015 Fashion Show designers and their lines Wednesday through Sunday on the Straight’s style blog.
