Many residents of the Greater Toronto region have found themselves treading water after severe summer thunderstorms created flash floods today (July 8).

Photos and video from the area show flooded streets, subway stations, and even buses.

Citizens have been urged not to drive through water-logged areas.

Environment Canada says the storm could leave a downpour of up to 100 millimetres of water.

The heavy rains come on the heels of a massive flood in Calgary in June, which required mass evacuations and left at least three people dead.
