The Khatsahlano! Music + Art Festival is still on for a few more hours, but the crowds are already out in full-force on West 4th Avenue between Burrard and Macdonald streets. The free, family-friendly event on today (July 13) until 8 p.m. includes live music on several stages, demonstrations and performances, shopping, games, food vendors, and outdoor beer gardens.

Is there some reason why 4th Avenue doesn't have a subway yet? It was the only thing missing really

I thought I was going to be upset that I missed the Sub Pop Jubilee in Seattle. I'm not. Khatsahlano was amazing today!! Looking forward to Pack AD in 1 hour!!!

I was in Montreal recently and saw a number of their street fairs, which are legendary, so it's hard for me to be objective. Vancouver is a young city and so is this festival - it has some refining to do. I think it would be a better idea to put up a few main stages, near one end and just have a steady flow of bands - and some seating. I walked the street from end to end twice and seemed to hit most stages when they were empty and playing canned music.

The majority of the people seemed content with just being out in the perfect weather, which was the real star of the festival. I'm sure this festival will be popular for many years to come and create it's own traditions. Kudos to the organizers and volunteers.
