Gay guys: Stop sleeping with straight men!

    1 of 2 2 of 2

Okay, so some of you will automatically wonder: How can gay guys sleep with straight guys?

Here are a number of possible explanations:

      1. They're closeted gay. As in denial, about their homosexuality and pretending to be straight. And probably a member of the Westboro Baptist Church.
      2. They're closeted bisexual. Women are far more open about bisexuality than men are. Most people have some degree of bisexuality (sometimes just emotional) which often goes unacknowledged or not acted upon. Which is a shame. And it's probably the source of a lot of homophobia (particularly when homophobes believe that homosexuality is a choice, which in fact may be internalized biphobia dervied from a fear of one's own bisexuality).
      3. They're just looking for sex. (Usually happens during adolescence but continues among adult guys who have trouble getting laid, are desperate, drunk, or just willing to get whatever they can.) Which gives a new meaning to gay-straight alliances.
      4. The responsibility-avoidance explanation: Things happened.

Anyhow, here's what this group of gay dudes have to say on the matter of gay guys sleeping with straight guys…

It makes me sad that this sort of silly garbage is what the Straight's main LGBT columnist considers important to report on. Where is he in the community? Where was your report on the fifth anniversary event for the Vancouver chapter of the Sister's of Perpetual Indulgence? Where is your report on this past weekend's Main Street Drag Ball? Where is the reportage on the upcoming elections for Emperor and Empress of the Dogwood Monarchist Society?

Shawn: I would ask to take an objective look at the LGBT section on our own site (http://www.straight.com/life/lgbt) to take a look at the reporting that has been done, including articles with interviews (as well as a blog post prior to the Sisters' event), which outnumber the so-called "silly" posts (the last video post similar to this one was back in January).
Of course, humour is important for maintaining perspective and can be informative in indirect ways.
What you might also be unaware of are constraints such as being tied up in the office with production duties, being out of town, having other work behind-the-scenes to do, or writing for other sections of the paper.
