Dragons' Den shakeup: Dickinson and Chilton leave, Joe Mimran joins

Changes are afoot in the Dragons' Den.

The popular CBC reality show, in which Canadian entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to a panel of business people who have to decide whether or not to invest in the proposals, will begin shooting 20 episodes of season 10 next month with new dragons taking up residence in the den.

In February, two popular dragons, marketing firm CEO Arlene Dickinson and personal finance author David Chilton (The Wealthy Barber), announced they were leaving the show.

Dickinson has been with the series since season 2 while Chilton started in season 7.

Thus far, only one new dragon has been named: fashion retailer Joe Mimran.

The announcement of Mimran, who launched the brands Joe Fresh, Club Monaco, Alfred Sung, Caban, and Pink Tartan, as a new dragon on March 18 came on the heels of his announcement on March 16 that he would be stepping down from the helm of Joe Fresh.

The remaining dragons include Vancouver chef and restauranteur Vikram Vij, Boston Pizza and Mr. Lube co-owner Jim Treliving, and Difference Capital CEO Michael Wekerle.

One more dragon has yet to be named; the CBC promised more announcements about the show to come.

The show, hosted by the CBC's Dianne Buckner, is based on an international franchise from Japan.

The ninth season of Dragon's Den airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CBC, and episodes can also be watched online.
