Salt Spring in the City corrals Salt Spring Island artisans in Vancouver

      Salt Spring Island’s popular Saturday market opens April 4. If you can’t wait to check out the island’s food, wine, fashion, art, and craft vendors, Salt Spring in the City takes place at Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street) from March 27 to 29.

      The second-annual event showcases over 30 Salt Spring Island-based artists and artisans. Find paintings and pottery, woodwork, jewellery, cheese, preserves, and more.

      This year’s exhibitors include artists Amy and Chloe Melious, Creative by Nature, Erin Morris Ceramics, Julie MacKinnon Ceramics, Lan’s Hands Pottery, Sasspot, and Zandra Stratford.

      Food vendors include Bite Me Treats, Monsoon Coast Trading Co., Organic Gaia Foods, Salt Spring Artisan Vinegar, Salt Spring Cheese, Salt Spring Coffee Co., Salt Spring Sea Salt, and Saltspring Kitchen Co.

      Finally, artisans showcasing home décor, gifts, and other dry goods include Aroma Crystal Therapy, Big Bear and the Wolf, Garden Faire, Hugh Finer, Kama Soap, Monster Lab, Sacred Mountain Lavender, Salt Spring Island Candle Co., Salt Spring Wooden Toys, Salt Spring Wool Arts, and Studio Coney.

      The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m. on March 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 28, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 29. The first 25 visitors each day will receive a Salt Spring in the City canvas bag and a gift valued at $40.

      Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for kids, with partial proceeds donated to Save on Meats’ Meal Token Program.
