Indian porn watchers prefer to pull it with mobiles in hand

Look out Canadian smut consumers—you’ve got some up-and-cumming competition across the Atlantic.

According to a story recently published on the website Quartz.com, online porn is doing booming business in India. The country now ranks only behind the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on a consumption level, this according to traffic stats from Pornhub.com, one of the world’s largest pornography portals.

India has leapfrogged Germany, France, and Italy to land in the top five countries with the biggest appetites for porn. That move marked the highest increase of any country, with the number from the Canada the U.S. and U.K. remaining the same.

The spike has as much to do with the explosion of the mobile phone business in India. Over the past couple of years, the number of mobiles sold in the country almost doubled, from 44 million in 2013 to 80 million in 2014.

According to Pornhub.com, more Indian consumers now watch porn on their phones than on their desktop computers, perhaps enjoying their online filth while riding the bus, sipping tea in their local cafe, or furtively pulling it in the men’s room at work.

And perhaps we should add rubbing one out in the ladies' room, as 25 percent of Pornhub.com visitors from India are women, a full two percentage points above the world-wide average. (For the curious, South America has the highest percentage of female porn watchers, with Brazil leading the way at 29 percent).

In case you are also curious, Monday is the most popular day for jacking it across the globe, perhaps because folks will do anything to get their hearts started for the long week ahead. Friday is the least popular.

In India, Saturday is the day most popular for those who enjoy pleasuring themselves.

As for what India’s porn consumers are looking for, “Sunny Leone” (a Canadian-born former adult actress turned Bollywood star) continues to remain popular as a search item, as are “Indian”, “Lisa Ann”, and “Indian Wife”. Coming up fast on the outside though is “Indian Bhabhi”, which shot up nearly 100 spots on the site’s most-searched list.
