Sexist Malarkey Watch: National Cleavage Day is super disgusting

    1 of 2 2 of 2

As the Internet so helpfully tells me, today (March 27) is National Cleavage Day in South Africa.

This is every kind of wrong.

National Cleavage Day is sponsored by Wonderbra, which unsurprisingly makes bras. When a corporation is spearheading a national day of anything, it's about marketing and selling product, nothing more.

On the NCD website, they helpfully provide links to 10 Movies About Cleavage and a section where you can guess the women the boobs belong to.

In an 2002 interview with the Independent online, a PR consultant said, "It is a day for women to realise that their cleavage is something unique and that they should be proud of it."

The same article quoted former Playboy SA magazine editor Jeremy Gordin as saying, "It is the most wonderful news I have ever heard and I can't wait to see what wonders it will bring forth."

And here's what happens when you object to sexist exploitation on Twitter.

      Nope.

      Wrong.

      Not even close to reality.

Anyway, I didn't think this needed to be said but apparently it does: Exploiting and objectifying women is terrible.

This does not make me a prude or a scold or woman shamer. This means I am tired of women being treated as decoration, sexual objects, and less than human. It means I'm pretty fucking grossed out by a company promoting a day to encourage lecherous behaviour by men as if men aren't anything more than slobbering, drooling animals.

Saying this means I am a fully rational human being is who tired of seeing women reduced to their body parts and used as a marketing ploy or an income generator.

Let's acknowledge National Cleavage Day for what it really is: sexist fucking garbage.

A thing to consider....is that nobody is forcing these women to post pictures of their cleavage. It's something they're actively participating in. Are you mad at these women, too?

It's like an end of the game day, or the empire is crumbling day. It's like let's take half the world aside and mock the shit out of their body day. It's pretty much the least appropriate thing to have youth and children see as important day. Whoever thought this up should be fitted with a bib and stuck with a soother in the face, then marched around town wearing a sign that says something about breast feeding is best.

Whats with all this hate from woman towards something like this. So much wasted energy hating.

Is cleavage really that bad? Why are you so against nature and what attracts the sexes to each other?

Men like breast because all species in this planet have sex doggie style except for humans and cleavage looks like an ass.

Would it soothe your pained posterior if we had a National Dicks Day? It can even be sponsored by jockstrap makers!

I personally like the idea of "cleavage day".

A shame you couldn't write an convincing argument, I would have been willing to consider your viewpoint if you did. Instead, you resort to babyish pants-shitting and whining. Nice.

The point of the Article isn't that Cleavage is bad.

The point of the article that this Corporate Holiday undermine the Whole Radical Feminist Movement. It FAILED TO EMPOWER WOMEN TO DO GREAT THINGS.

      How mature

Can always count on feminists to be the mature ones by trying to encourage censorship. Any movement that encourages pride in one's appearance is a good thing, stop being selfish and celebrate all body types.
