Photos: Vancouver's 2015 4/20 festival sends one big cloud up over a perfect day

    1 of 21 2 of 21

The only cloud disturbing today’s perfect blue sky was sitting right over the Vancouver Art Gallery.

A pungent haze emanated from thousands of pot enthusiasts who had gathered to celebrate 4/20—the annual festival of all things marijuana.

When the Straight dropped by there was still a ways to go before the day's big sesh, but by the looks of things many in attendence had already been smoking for hours.

Looks like a group of mindless delinquents who should be either in school or looking for a job...

The VPD allowing this event where illegal substances are consumed is a slap in the face of law abiding citizens. Shut it down and issue fines or arrest all of them. How can parents teach their kids now to do drugs when this takes place.

Don't these people have jobs? Is it safe to say, 'that people who have all day to smoke weed and loiter' are also unemployed?

      4/21, 4/22, 4/23 and so on...

Decriminalize cannabis already. This would save the VPD a lot of money. There's no need to arrest people for growing and consuming plants. It's time to learn from Colorado and Washington state.

"Pot has no negative effect" says most pot smokers,
But all these greasy hippies flooding the streets doing (what I still think to be illegal activities, to try make it legal sure, but until then it's still breaking the law). I mean how many of them skipped work for this event("Pot has no negative effect"). How many of these people actually have the medicinal marijuana card(Still breaking the law if you don't)? How much law enforcement man power was wasted("Pot has no negative effect") to come watch that a bunch of STONERS cry over who stole their 10$ bag of weed. The traffic jams caused by people flooding a public area to literally break the law, that's definitely like drinking in public is it not? How many of these people drove to this event("Pot has no negative effect"), how many got right back behind the wheel after attending this event("Pot has no negative effect")? How many high school and under aged were at this event("Pot has no negative effect")? How many vendors or people selling the drug were licensed vendors? Does it really help your cause by flaunting such disregard for rules and self management; breaking the law is breaking the law, and skipping work to do so is just a horrible lifestyle choice to set yourself in, while trying to make new laws.
I am all about freedoms of the people, but showing up, and making a video the greasiest fat slobs and 90 pound hippies the way to get pot legalized? I bet anything that if it were a bunch of your kids at this event skipping class to do so, or If the impact of driving under the influence was shown in this video, more people would see the negative effects pot has. Just to quote it one more, cause it has to be said over and over to some people, "Pot has no negative effect?"

They forgot to mention the 64 people that they had to take to the hospital for ingesting edible pot products. But it has no negative effects? I don't really care whether someone smokes pot or not, but at least be honest about it. Anything you smoke is bad for your health including marijuana. Many good things about it too (for treatment of pain etc) it seems, but don't make it sound like its some gift from God or something thats all good and has no side effects cause then you'd be lieing.
