Groundwerk hopes to build Vancouver's electronic music scene

With its mandate of (to quote from its Facebook page) "bringing the Vancouver electronic music community together to cross-polinate, elevate and collaborate on a monthly basis", Groundwerk Vancouver kicks off with its first event at the Beaumont Studios (316 West 5th Avenue) on Wednesday (April 22).

Spearheaded by Nickolas Collinet and Steph Parkes of Some Kind of Music Blog, in collaboration with the Vancouver Producer's Forum and DJ Joel West, Groundwerk Vancouver is a monthly salon at which electronic music-makers will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their tracks, get inspiration from keynote speakers, and network with others in the scene.

How serious are these folks about this new venture? Well, given that they already have spiffy Groundwerk T-shirts printed, I'm guessing they're very serious indeed.
