      Swedish electropop band Little Dragon performs tunes from latest album Nabuma Rubberband at the Malkin Bowl.

      Vancouver ukulele players Daphne Roubini and Andrew Smith perform in support of debut release A Ukulele Album at the St. James Hall.

      Caravan World Rhythms and Kamal’s Video Palace present Indian sitar and tabla players Niladri Kumar and Aditya Kalyanpur at the Rio Theatre.

      Seattle-based reggae-ska band the Georgetown Orbits performs with the Brass Action, Heads Hang Heavy, and S.K.A. at the Hindenburg.

      France's LeMarquis headlines the first event in the Future Tempo series, with local guests Tails and Kinship. Held at the Electric Owl.

      German techno DJ-producer Move D takes the stage at the Fox Cabaret.

      Roedde House Museum hosts a Community Farmstead Day, featuring artisans, vendors, and historians demonstrating everyday tasks from the era.

      Women Transforming Cities and rabble.ca present an event to inspire, amplify, and celebrate young women’s voices through media. Held at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

      FASHION

      Five Sixty hosts the Upcycled Fashion Show, which showcases the creations of independent designers and fashion-design students.

      FORUMS

      TEDxStanleyPark features talks by Ujjal Dosanjh, Brad Gorski, Daphne Bramham, David Knapp-Fisher, Grace Pastine, Homayoun Najjaran, Jacky Yenga, Marta Guarna, Matt Young, Peter Legge, Rumana Monzur, Teesha Morgan, and Zale Zeviar. Held at the Granville Island Stage.

      Ocean Howell delivers a keynote address about the history of inclusion and exclusion in the design of urban public space. Held at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

      KIDS' STUFF

      The Museum of Vancouver hosts a day of kid-friendly activities, including performances by ventriloquist Kelly Haines, the interactive exhibition, face painting, and food from local vendors.

      Physical-theatre artist Gerardo Avila and the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble bring Chinese folk-tale figures to life at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.

      Place des Arts presents a teen-friendly evening of art exploration, including hip-hop dance, spoken word, visual art, photography, and drumming workshops.

      SPORTS

      CPAWS-BC and the Vancouver Dodgeball League present a dodgeball tournament that raises money to protect B.C.'s landscapes. Held at the Fraserview Boys and Girls Club.

      Photographer Greg Girard presents an illustrated talk about his career. Held at the Richmond Art Gallery.

      MUSIC

      Opera Opulenza presents a concert of sacred music featuring selections by Mozart, Faure, Bach, Schubert, Brahms, and Liszt. Held at Pyatt Hall.

      Alexander Shelley conducts pianist Janina Fialkowska and the VSO in a program of works by Alexina Louie, Ravel, and Schubert. Held at the Orpheum Theatre.

      The Erato Ensemble performs works by Christopher Berg, Eugene Castillo, Sondra Clark, Scott Gendel, William George, Richard Gleaves, Stephen Gorbos, Gustav Hoyer, Marga Richter, Kaija Saariaho, and Lou Warde. Held at the Orpheum Annex.

      MOVIES

      Director Jason Bourque's crime drama Black Fly sees a troubled man escape from his abusive uncle and make his way to the island farmhouse which is still home to his older brother. Screened at the Vancity Theatre.

      The Cinematheque hosts a screening of 2015 DOXA best-of films, including The Forecaster, How to Change the World, Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll, and The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.

      Cineworks presents the Festival of (In)appropriation, which contemporary, short (20 minutes or less), and audiovisual works that appropriate existing film, video, or other media.

      A one-night only showcase of work by emerging filmmakers, visual artists, and musicians from across the Lower Mainland is held at CBC Studio 700.
