Ron Zalko Fitness & Yoga has hosted a bevy of celebrities over the years. But few have shone as brightly as the most recent superstar to visit Zalko's Kitsilano gym.

Over the noon hour on May 26, Lady Gaga dropped by for a workout lasting an hour and 10 minutes with other members of the club. And she even signed her name on the wall.

"She was terrific and down to earth," Zalko told the Georgia Straight. "She kissed me on the cheek."

Then he quipped, "I shouldn't take a shower."

He also said that she cracked many jokes and sang along with the music as she exercised. Zalko and his wife Kathleen collected cellphones from the other patrons to ensure no unauthorized photographs were taken.

"It just went fantastic," Zalko recalled.

Zalko said that Lady Gaga was accompanied by two big, good-looking security guards and they came into his facility through a private entrance.

Once she arrived, she asked if exercise bikes could be moved into the studio, where she participated in a spinning class created for her.

At first, the singer spoke in French because she was under the impression that Zalko spoke the language.

One of the first major celebrities to visit Zalko's gym was Jane Fonda in the 1980s. Since then, the facility has welcomed Faye Dunaway, Ryan Reynolds, Zac Efron, Linda Carter (aka Wonder Woman), Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Biel, Seal, Jessica Alba, Diahann Carroll, Hugh Jackman, the Rock, Sylvester Stallone, and Kim Cattrall.

"They feel that it's like home for them," Zalko said. "They feel secure. We're very flexible and the product is great."
