Montreal actor Jay Baruchel will become a triple-threat with the sequel to the Canadian-American 2011 sports comedy Goon.

Baruchel will not only star in it and cowrite the script (with Jesse Chabot) but will mark his directorial debut. Baruchel will take over the reins from director Michael Dowse (Fubar, It's All Gone Pete Tong).

Baruchel will return as Pat, the best friend of Doug "The Thug" Glatt, played by Sean William Scott who will also reprise his role on the fictional minor-league team the Halifax Highlanders.

In Goon: The Last of the Enforcers, a lockout results in a number of pro players heading into the minors.

Production is slated to begin in the third week of June in Toronto, Hamilton, and Barrie, Ontario.

Goon was one of English-Canadian cinema's biggest cinematic successes in recent years, hauling in $4.2 million at the box office.
