Australian political advisor argues against same-sex marriage by insulting Ireland

On a TV debate, an Australian political advisor has argued against same-sex marriage by making derogatory and insulting comments about Irish people.

Australian opposition leader Bill Shorten had proposed a bill on June 1 to overturn the national ban on same-sex marriage.

When commenting on the proposal, Grahame Morris, former chief of staff for former Prime Minister John Howard, argued that Australia shouldn't follow in the footsteps of Ireland (which voted for same-sex marriage in a referendum on May 23).

And why should Australia not follow Ireland's example?

Well, that's because Morris blames the Irish for millions dying during famines (saying they can't grow potatoes), for their national symbol of the shamrock (calling it a "mutant lawn weed"), and for their accent (saying they can't differentiate between tree and three).

So apparently people should listen to him because he's a racist?

Call that a win for the pro-same-sex-marriage movement. And for Ireland.

The idiocy begins in the video below near the 7:45 mark.

The fact that morris was in howard's government explains his complete ignorance. Maybe abbott could use him. They have a lot in common!
The Aussies are as dumb as Canadians when it comes to electing governments.

As an Irish person, I find it absolutely stupid that you would call this "racist."

Though the bloke is a bit of a mouth breather in addition to being out of touch with the electorate, when it came to the Irish, he was just taking the piss....get over it.
