Christy Clark takes to Twitter to respond to "Yoga Haters"

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Premier Christy Clark took to Twitter today in response to mounting opposition to her #OmTheBridge event planned for June 21 on Burrard Bridge.

Predictably, some members of the public were… not impressed by the premier's words.

The province has budgeted $150,000 for the #OmTheBridge event, which will be held on the International Day of Yoga (IDY).

AltaGas, an Albertan energy company, has donated $10,000 to the premier's photo op, I mean, yoga celebration.

A free IDY event, sponsored by the Consulate of India, will take place at the Plaza of Nations on the same day.

A counter-event to mark National Aboriginal Day is also being held.

Incidentally, there is no International Tai Chi Day. World Tai Chi Day takes place on the last Saturday of April.

      Let's hope so.

This begs a couple of serious questions:

      1. Which BC Liberal donors will be rewarded with a customized farcial spectacle at taxpayers' expense on International Tai Chi Day? No one who is angry about the June 21 farce hates Yoga - we hate Clark's awarding of a taxpayer funded photo-op to BC Liberal campaign donors like AltaGas and Lululemon. If this was about Yoga, the BC government would have got behind the REAL, official event taking place for the UN International Day of Yoga being staged at the Plaza of Nations and sponsored by the Consulate of India.

      2. Is Christy Clark mentally ill and incapable of functioning as the Premier of British Columbia? Seriously, provocative tweets like this and her taunting parents of public school students during last fall's teachers' strike have all the markings of a Narcissistic Sociopath. If the media was able to expose Sarah Palin as a deluded self-promoting incompetent, why don't do the same for Clark?

YaYAY!..I've been holding my breath for International TaiChi/Qigong Day to be held on YVR landing strip - let's close our airport for a FULL day & not any planes land or take off!..That will show the world how much we LURVE TaiChi/Qigong (by default China) & HATE yoga (& by default India), now why don't we?!!..
I didn't know how some leaders can be so incredibly obtuse & undermine what little ground they have left!!..

Apparently not a hack. CBC is now reporting--

"Asked about the tweet Thursday morning, Clark said it "was a joke"."

      Recall, anyone?

No International Tai Chi Day you say? God, this dummy can't get anything right! She's too fast trying to keep up the diversion from the health firing's bombshell that she lied, that she can't even research the name properly.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by the petty immaturity displayed by C.C. It's the same mentality that prolonged a public education strike for almost five months.

No question $150K is nothing compared to the international attention and visitation Vancouver will earn from this. It's great marketing for the City.
I think disgruntled teachers and the Mayor (who didn't think of it first) should get a grip. Maybe grab a yoga mat?:)
Raffi has defined himself as cheap political theater. And he's just one mouthpiece for the Green Party. It's not the first time he's gone off. I'm disappointed in his tactics, less the Premiers. I'd like to know how much he got paid for organizing this online hate campaign.
BC should see this as a great opportunity to honour yoga, first nations heritage and father's day all at once. It was the UN general assembly that called for International Yoga Day, afterall. And, honestly, I look forward to Tai Chi too...

I know we all have to remain reasonably civil in our daily lives but my god I hate this woman.
