      American jazz group the Fred Hersch Trio performs as part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Held at Performance Works.

      Folk Music for Everyone features performances by Raven & Dove, the Lazy Jacks, Lemon Gin, Mary Armitage, and Chris Ronald at St. Paul's Anglican Church.

      British folk-pop singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran (pictured above) tours in support of latest release x. Held at Rogers Arena.

      New York sacred steel group the Campbell Brothers melds African American gospel with electric steel guitars and vocals. Held at BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts.

      A kickoff party and fundraiser for the 20th annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival includes music by DJ Phonofile, Terhi Miikki Broersma and Jeff Sholer, and DJs H!j!nx, Vertigo, Volodicus, LuvLyf, Average Citizen, Fiksupoika, Neon Gypsy, and Starbauck.       Le Centre Culturel Francophone De Vancouver presents an acoustic version of the Francophone jazz opera Destin du Jazz-Club! – Vancouver.

      It's your first chance to catch the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place at False Creek.

      CycleHack Vancouver gathers people with different skills and experiences of transit together to look at cycling in a new way. Held at MakerLabs.

      Science World hosts an adults-only evening at which participants can explore exhibits, check out a presentation on Jurassic Park, and meet VFX mavericks Steve Williams and Geoff Campbell.

      The West Vancouver Memorial Library hosts a discussion of current news stories.

       

      KIDS' STUFF

      A family-friendly start-of-summer celebration includes carnival rides, a bike-decorating clinic, a pancake breakfast, a parade, live entertainment, a silent auction, a wading pool, lawn bowling, and a kids-and-dads race. Held at Trimble Park.

       

      THEATRE

      Western Gold Theatre presents a play about four single female friends of retirement age who are unsettled financially and emotionally. Held at the PAL Theatre.

       

      MOVIES

      Vancity Theatre hosts the first day of the Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival, which includes seven feature-length films that look at Taiwan and the many lives of humanity that live in it.
