Burnaby-born striker and Canadian women's soccer team captain Christine Sinclair was already a national sporting icon before scoring a hat trick in a 4-3 loss to the Americans at the London Olympics. She cemented this when her squad ended up winning the bronze medal.

Today, Sinclair and her teammates will take on the Swiss in the Women's World Cup at B.C. Place Stadium. The winner moves on and the loser will be eliminated.

If Canada advances to the quarter finals, it will play either Norway or England.

Sinclair, who turned 32 this month, has no plans to retire but it's not out of the question that this could be her final World Cup game should Canada be defeated by the Swiss.

Of course barring any injuries, she will almost certainly be representing her country in the next Summer Olympics, which take place in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. But the next Women's World Cup won't be held until 2019, when she'll be 36 years old.

Below, you can see some highlights from Sinclair's outstanding career, which includes 154 goals in international competition.
