Expect to hear more of this protest song as the federal election approaches.

That's because the Ottawa folk singer who wrote "Harperman", Tony Turner, has issued a challenge to people across Canada to make their own video of the song and post it on YouTube.

The version above was recorded on June 12.

Here are my favourite lyrics: "Whose smarmy smile is a thin veneer? Harperman, Harperman. Who preaches the politics of fear? Harperman, Harperman. Ignores the plight of Native folks, missing women—it's no joke, Harperman, it's time for you to go."

You can read all the lyrics here.

Andrew Hall and Matthew Hall were responsible for video recording and j sonier did the sound recording. The project manager was Chris White, who brought the Crowd of Well Wishers choir into the studio on short notice.

Stuff like this is kinda funny. I've lived in Canada for over 10 years now and I've constantly read the screeching from people like this about how Canada hates Harper and how he is the worst thing for Canada. Yet Canadians keep electing him. Seems Canadians hate the other two parties even more. Hate me if you want, but don't deny reality.

we don't keep electing him! He has cheated on the last two elections and has changed the election act to guarantee a win this next election. If Harper wins, it's not by playing fair!

Stephen Harper reminds me of the main character in the movie Children of the Corn. He looks and acts like Isaac. Quite scary!

Wonderful and timely song. Strategic voting will help Harper go
