Video: RCMP blocked from entering Unist'ot'en camp

One of the most militant antipipeline protests is taking place near Smithers, B.C.

That's where the Unist'ot'en can of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation have created a camp in opposition to the proposed Pacific Trail and Northern Gateway pipelines.

The issue has divided Wet'suwet'en people in the past because some supported these energy projects.

In June, however, all the clans stated their opposition to pipelines in a document filed with the B.C. Oil and Gas Commission.

Meanwhile, the campers are in no mood to give up. They claim on their website that they're not blockading a road.

Rather, they're "establishing check-points on the boundaries of our unceded Unist'ot'en territories".

"People and companies who gain our consent are allowed to enter," they say.

On July 15, two RCMP officers showed up but were stopped from crossing. (See the video above.)

According to the campers, the officers have said that they could be arrested for blocking a public road.

I'm sure in the beginning IS was just "setting up checkpoints" on their "unceded territory" too.

Harper will get his way, meaning protests. Some of these will be non peaceful in nature. He will not get his pipelines though. Dirty oil through dirty tactics by dirty Politicians isn't going to happen.
Make no mistake, people are willing to give their lives for the environment.

You spelled "clan" "can" and the "Wet'suwet'en First Nation" and "Wet'suwet'en Nation" are totally different entities and jurisdictions.

No mention that there are not treaties, land sales, surrenders for this land, or the Delgamuukw...
