The Canucks have added some Sutter toughness to the lineup.

The team has acquired centre Brandon Sutter, son of former NHLer Brent Sutter, and a third-round draft pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In return, the Penguins received the Canucks' second-line centre, Nick Bonino, along with defenceman Adam Clendening and a second-round draft pick.

Sutter, 26, was chosen 11th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL's entry draft in 2007.

He was later traded to Pittsburgh for Jordan Staal.

Last year, Sutter scored 21 goals and posted 12 assists in a Penguins uniform.

Bonino, 27, scored 15 goals and added 24 assists in his only season with the Canucks after coming over from the Anaheim Ducks in the Ryan Kesler trade.
