CBC reporter Megan Batchelor accepts apology from kissing teen Daniel Davies

It's just the latest example of men harassing female journalists on the job.

CBC reporter Megan Batchelor was filming a live TV hit when a teen planted an unwanted kiss on her cheek and snapped a selfie, leading her to file a complaint with the RCMP.

Now 17-year-old Daniel Davies has identified himself as the culprit and apologized to Batchelor, CBC has reported.

"At the moment I thought it was kind of a joke, then I stepped in your shoes, that's when I kind of realized that it all was not a joke at all. That's your career — obviously it's also your body and you have complete control of that and without anyone else's consent, they do not have the right to do anything to anyone," Davies told Batchelor, according to CBC.

Batchelor has accepted the man's apology.

"Just hearing those words, it's exactly what I wanted to hear, and in all of this, I didn't want anyone to lose their job or get a criminal record, I just want people to take a second, and just think of the impact on that person. Just because I'm standing in front of a camera doesn't mean I don't have feelings and I'm not focused and I'm not trying to be a professional," Batchelor said.

The kissing incident at the Squamish Valley Music Festival came on the heels of a series of events that saw men yell "Fuck her right in the pussy" at female reporters on the air.

This is one of the most unimportant news reports that I have ever read. I feel kinda pathetic even commenting on it but...all this young man did was kiss her on the cheek. Hey believe it or not that is actually a greeting in some countries. The fact that she felt offended is just absurd. Good grief, accept the compliment and move on. And she hasn't dropped the charges against him? How rude. I sincerely hope she never has children that grow into teens. Sometimes kids having fun are impulsive. He obviously meant no harm. But she is getting her 5 minutes of fame.......so sad that I actually feel pity for her. Oh and by the way, I am female. So don't bother spewing all your woman's lib crap my way.

I do not accept her accepting his apology. Megan Batchelor sounds like a person who lacks as a real reporter & used feminism to get her 15 seconds of fame.

Okay. Disaster averted. Another win for humankind and it's smooth sailing from here on in.

The boy should be fine fined and jailed for sexual harassment. Maybe eight or nine years in prison will set him right.
