I saw a different side of Harvey McKinnon in the video above.

I've known him for many years as a Vancouver fundraising consultant, author, and supporter of good causes around the world.

Today, I learned that he's also the son of a wounded military veteran. And this caused him to create a video in support of the Anyone But Conservative campaign.

The group was launched by veterans who, according to McKinnon, "felt abused by the Harper Conservatives".

"My dad was a vet," McKinnon reveals. "In fact, he lost both of his legs in the Second World War. In his day, the government pension allowed him to raise a family of five kids, but veterans and their families aren't so fortunate."

He says that as the son of a wounded veteran, he finds it "painful and shameful" when Conservatives say they have no moral obligation to wounded soldiers. And that's why he's asking for the public to contribute to the Anybody But Conservative cause.

"Your donation will help vets to campaign in their ridings against the Harper Conservatives, support social media, and national TV ads," McKinnon says. "They'll help expose what the Conservatives have been doing to our vets and to our country."
