Jon Bon Jovi and the Kings of Suburbia concert cancelled in Vancouver
Bad news, Jon Bon Jovi and the Kings of Suburbia fans.
Their August 22 concert in Vancouver's Stanley Park has been cancelled.
The promoter, Paper Rain Performances, says it has "requested a postponement" of the show, but Jon Bon Jovi's management so far hasn't committed to rescheduling.
"We remain hopeful that a future date can be confirmed," the promoter said in a news release.
The event was expected to bring 14,000 fans to Brockton Field.
Update (5 p.m.): Bon Jovi Tours Inc. has confirmed the concert is cancelled.
In a release, the company blames the promoter, claiming they "failed to get proper permits from the city of Vancouver" and make other arrangements.
"Bon Jovi Tours Inc. shares the disappointment of fans for this cancellation and we are grateful for the city of Vancouver’s support as we tried to keep this concert as scheduled for Saturday," the release states.
According to the company, questions about refunds should go to the promoter.
Update 2 (August 18): Another statement from Bon Jovi Tours. This one's for people who bought travel packages for the concert from Runaway Tours.
"Runaway Tours created a unique travel package that includes several days of experiences. Although Stanley Park has been cancelled, Jon takes his commitments seriously and still plans to play a small, acoustic show on Saturday for Runaway Tours customers who purchased the travel package," the statement says.

Who are these promoters? Last week I saw an advertisement asking for VOLUNTEERS to work this event, I asked why and the response was "it is a fundraiser"... yeahhhhhh sure. Then I saw VIP tickets for $495 and it incensed me! Promote things properly and pay people fairly, A-holes.

Seriously $595 PLUS service charge PLUS tax for vip tix? The promoters were in wayyy over their heads. Anyone look at their website? It showed a Pink Floyd sized stage and light show and how exactly did they think they were going to get that into the Brokton oval nevermind how to power the whole deal in the first place.... Well, first place for being clueless idiots.

This show was doomed from the get go. Ridiculous prices and the website stated the show was going to be 1 hour. Forget about it.

I've worked with most of the promoters in Vancouver big and small and I have never even heard of a thing called Paper Rain Performances.
So I just checked out their website.

It's for the best. This is what happens when rich business men who don't know a 'C chord' from a 'G chord'. They have no invested interest other than making a buck for themselves. Bon Jovi blows anyways.
