One hockey great, Tim Horton, gave birth to a donut chain across the country. Soon, one of his former teammates, Pat Quinn, will have his name emblazoned on a new restaurant and bar in Tsawwassen.

Pat Quinn's Restaurant & Bar will open at Tsawwassen Springs this fall.

In a news release, the general manager of Tsawwassen Springs, Steve Halliday, described it as a "classic West Coast grill".

Quinn's widow, Sandra, singer Michael Bublé, Shato Holdings managing director Ron Toigo, and music promoter Bruce Allen made the announcement yesterday.

"Pat Quinn was second to none in this community," Toigo said. "He knew a lot about hockey and building a team both in an office and on the ice. Pat also knew a great restaurant, having eaten at a lot of the best ones around the world."

Quinn was a partner in Tsawwassen Springs and the Vancouver Giants junior hockey team before he passed away last November. Bublé, who's also a partner in the Giants, said that Quinn "felt like part of my family".

Quinn and Horton were both gritty defencemen and played together for nearly two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1968-69 and 1969-70.

Horton was dealt to the New York Rangers near the end of that year; the following season, Quinn joined the Vancouver Canucks, later becoming head coach, general manager, and the team's president.
