Will Elvis Costello perform with Gov't Mule in Vancouver tonight?

Here's some fun facts to consider:

Elvis Costello is buddies with Gov't Mule singer-guitarist Warren Haynes.

He was one of the 11 guest vocalists on Gov't Mule's new album.

      He lives in Vancouver.

      Gov't Mule plays Vancouver tonight.

Add it all up and what you get—according to our keen calculations at Ear of Newt—is the distinct possibility that Costello might join Gov't Mule on stage at the Commodore tonight for a blistering version of "Funny Little Tragedy", the tune he sings on the Mule's stunning new double-album, Shout!

      That'd be cool.

Only thing is, Costello and his wife Diana Krall are both booked to perform tomorrow and Sunday (October 26 and 27) at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit Concerts in Mountain View, California, along with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, fun., Heart, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

But that's what planes are for, right?

Hopefully Costello can pull off a guest spot with Gov't Mule tonight and still make it home to West Van in time for a decent sleep, get up tomorrow, kiss the kids goodbye, tell the nanny "No parties!", and then holler "Elvis has left the building!" before jumping into whatever fancy car he drives and skidaddling to YVR in time to catch his flight.

Yeah, let's shoot for that scenario.

And the good news is, if that doesn't happen, you've still got the mighty Mule.

Would love an Elvis sit in, last time I saw surprise a crowd was at Levon's last shindig here. I'm really hoping for Gordie Johnson sit in, him and Warren are awesome together. I know he doesn't live in West Vancouver, but that's what planes are for!

Of course, the more the merrier!
