Halloween Video Countdown Day 31: musical tricks and treats

Well, this is it: the big day itself and the end of our Halloween countdown. Picking just one video proved impossible, however. There are just so many great ones to choose from. And no, I don't include Michael Jackson's "Thriller" among that number. I mean, sure, it's a classic and all that, but if you want to watch it, you know where to find it. Here are a few less predictable selections.

We'll start with what is possibly the saddest, most romantic zombie story ever, in the heartbreaking video for Digits' "Say Goodbye".

Nothing outright terrifying happens in the video for Bat for Lashes' "What's a Girl to Do", but the dark woods and animal masks all add up to an uncanny vibe, plus she's riding her bike without a helmet on.

      "This Is Halloween". Obviously.

I couldn't find a video for "It's Halloween" by the Shaggs, so I had to make do with something executed with a similar level of competence.

Something local to end with. The female lead in the video for "Prequel" by Gang Signs looks as if she's about to learn the same lesson that Louis Creed learned in Pet Sematary: sometimes dead is better.
