The community newspaper that gave me my first job in the business—as a carrier—is shutting its doors.

Today (September 10), it was made public that the Burnaby NewsLeader, along with the New Westminster NewsLeader and Tri-Cities Now, is the latest casualty of restructuring at Vancouver-based Glacier Media Group.

Burnaby NewsLeader reporter Wanda Chow shared the sad news on Twitter.

Glacier will continue to publish the Burnaby Now, New Westminster Record, and Tri-City News in the absence of their shuttered competitors.
