The 13th Whistler Film Festival kicked off its annual cinematic celebration of screens on the slopes on December 4 with celebrity style.

Hollywood stars Richard Dreyfuss and Jason Priestley walked the red carpet for the Western Canadian premiere of the comedy-drama Cas & Dylan. Priestley’s crowd-pleasing directorial debut stars Dreyfuss as a terminally ill doctor who embarks upon a cross-Canada roadtrip to Vancouver Island with a 22-year-old chatterbox of a hitchhiker (Tatiana Maslany).

Prior to the full-house screening, hometown boy Priestley recalled how he grew up skiing at Whistler. He noted how the much the village has grown, changing from a parking lot at the end of the ski run into what it is today.

Meanwhile, Dreyfuss praised Maslany’s performance in the film. Maslany won the inaugural Best Performance in a Borsos Competition Film Award at last year’s WFF.

The festival runs until Sunday (December 8).
