Transgender model Jenna Talackova says going vegan was “healthiest transformation”

In 2012, Jenna Talackova became something of an LGBT icon when she fought to open the Miss Universe beauty pageant to transgender women and won.

Two years later, the Vancouver model has become the latest vegan celebrity.

In a new video for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Talackova reveals she went vegan three years ago because she loves animals.

"You are what you eat, and I'd rather be a fruit than a dead, rotting carcass," Talackova says.

Talackova also appears in a PETA poster ad wearing an outfit made of vegetables.

This Sunday (January 26), Talackova's reality TV series, Brave New Girls, will premiere on E! at 7 p.m.

Pity. For a while, I thought she had a brain, despite her modelling aspirations.

But joining PETA - one of the world's most dishonest and contemptible "advocacy" groups - suggests otherwise.

Another vegan moron. Do some research. How do you plan on getting enough iron?

it's not the vegan part that irritates me. that's a personal choice. and I don't care about the transgender thing, either. we all have to be who we have to be, and she's clearly a beautiful woman.

but don't try to politicize my grocery list. i'm a meat eater, and will remain so.

      No wiener

Jenna is saying no to wiener ( meat) in more ways than one.

My title will give you my culinary leanings however I feel it's up to the individual to have free choice if they choose to change their gender or taxon. Although my opinion is Jenna got it wrong on the latter. And Mr. Hui would have you believe that eating a bale of kale is a suitable alternative to a 6oz steak.

Good for her , anything to make those complicate in serial animal murder to feel responsible for their heinous perspective regarding other living things.

My first thought at seeing this pic is, after undergoing gender reassignment, why would Ms. Talackova allow PETA to photograph her with a penis constructed of vegetables??? This photo is not nearly as flattering as other female celebrity shots for PETA, and didn't have me thinking "don't eat meat", it had me thinking PETA was making a bad joke at Ms. Talckova's expense.
