Canada's men's hockey team defeats the United States to qualify for the 2014 Sochi Olympics gold medal
Canada’s men’s hockey team is on its way to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics gold medal match.
The defending champions defeated the United States 1-0 to make it past the semifinals. The lone goal was scored by Victoria’s Jamie Benn.
The Dallas Stars left-winger put one past U.S. goaltender Jonathan Quick early in the second period. The goal was tipped off a shot by Edmonton’s Jay Bouwmeester.
The Montreal Canadiens' Carey Price stopped 31 shots for a shutout.
After Canada's women's team beat its American counterpart yesterday (February 20), the men's team win means that President Barack Obama owes Prime Minister Stephen Harper two cases of beer.
.@pmharper and I bet on the women's and men's US-Canada hockey games. Winner gets a case of beer for each game. #GoTeamUSA! -bo
