Australian comedian argues reverse racism doesn't really exist

    1 of 2 2 of 2

Australian comedian Aamer Rahman, who happens to be of Bangladeshi descent, makes jokes about white people.

Is it reverse racism, a term which frequently gets used against ethnic minorities? Why is it not okay for white people to do the same about non-white people?

Rahman, who is one half of the comedy duo Fear of a Brown Planet (Nazeem Hussain being the other half), doesn't think so.

He manages to deftly argue, in a humorous manner, why charges of reverse racism don't really work by exposing the systemic and institutionalized prejudices against visible minorities.

Watch it below and see what you think.

How about the fact that term makes no sense to begin with. It's either racist or it isn't racist. Reverse racism would be race compliments?

Journalism fail. Can't blame the comedian, he's just doing a bit, doesn't have to make sense.

      Thx for the heads up!

      That was funny...
Their other bits were pretty damn funny, too

(I'm not racist...I...enjoy your national dishes...) Ha

      Uhhhh:

Can't blame the journalist either. He's just using the vernacular used by people like you in everyday speech (so it makes sense).

Cheap rhetorical trick playing the lay meaning of the word "racism", which is basically bigotry/stereotyping at an individual level, against the larger definition, which is systemic discrimination. While it works as a crude way to deliver a short lecture, it's also dishonest.

If you're going to make this point, you have to keep the definitions clear. "Reverse racism" isn't a thing because "racism" implies the weight of a society's baked-in biases and history behind it. But bigotry is just bigotry. Anyone of any colour can be a bigot as one individual to another, and history doesn't excuse that.

It's not racist when a dark-skinned guy slags white people, and it's not murder when a commie massacres undesirables! Cultural Marxist Kookery, CHECK!

I don't mind if other races want to make jokes about us (white people). It's to be expected when you are the top dog and have changed the world more than any other culture in history. Everything that this comedian used to get his jokes across were only possible because white people invented the media to do so. We are an incredibly creative and ambitious race. Yes we have our flaws but none that aren't present in all other races. So go ahead and make jokes and we'll laugh at them because we have a sense of humour.

There's more Indians, Bangladeshis and Chinese than there are 'white people' so globally they are a visible minority.
