Improv Everywhere New York launched the annual No Pants Subway day in the Big Apple in 2002 and since then, it's spread around the globe.

This year's event takes place on Sunday (January 10).

Improv Everywhere Vancouver is encouraging residents to show up on the north side of the Vancouver Art Gallery at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday for what it's calling the No Pants SkyTrain Ride 2016.

The only requirements are a willingness to take their pants off on SkyTrain and keep a straight face about it.

Oh yes, and participants should bring a backpack, presumably so there's a place to store their trousers during the ride.

"The mission is to make people laugh, not piss them off," the organizers say on a Facebook page.

Afterward, they'll gather for a photo op and then converge on the Cannibal Cafe on Commercial Drive for an "American Classic Burber + a sleeve of domestic draft beer with barely bottomless fries".
