A University of Northern B.C. student has become the toast of Hong Kong.

That's because Jennifer Ling Coosemans has won the Miss Chinese International pageant against 13 other competitors.

Coosemans grew up in Terrace and is of half-Belgian and half-Chinese descent.

She was crowned Miss Chinese Vancouver in December after wowing a Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre audience with her skills on the trombone.

At the time, she said if she were to win, she would like to use her higher public profile to focus more attention on environmental research.
