This video from Maple Leaf Foods’ chicken hatchery in Ontario will make you lose your lunch

Earlier this year, Mercy for Animals Canada sent an undercover investigator to work at Horizon Poultry, a Maple Leaf Foods-owned hatchery in Hanover, Ontario.

The nonprofit organization's hidden camera footage, released on Monday (April 14), shows adorable chicks being roughly handled, thrown, tumble-dried, ripped out of their shells, ground up alive, and drowned. The video's narrator says:

The cruelty you have witnessed is inherent and widespread within the industrial chicken meat industry. Please remember these chicks the next time you're in the poultry section of your grocery store.

Maple Leaf Foods has confirmed that the footage did, in fact, come from its hatchery. The company released a statement today (April 15), which says, in part:

Maple Leaf has zero tolerance for animal abuse. Animal welfare guides all of our operating procedures and is a central facet of training in any facility that has animals under its care.

MFA Canada has posted an online petition that calls for the "installation of video monitoring systems, live-streamed to the internet, in all [Maple Leaf Foods] facilities in order to help prevent malicious animal abuse".

This industry is hideous! It needs to be put out of business for good! Everyone can help by NOT eating animals!

Rights are gifts from god, they are not predicated of any ability to feel pain, to suffer, etc. Animals do not have rights. The do-gooders who get their cheap thrills this way would be well advised to work on the welfare of their own species. We have had generations of "animal rights" activism, and it doesn't seem to bleed over. In fact, I have never been so viciously attacked as by Vegan animal lovers. Apparently I am not an animal they care about!

Something unrelated here, but a few years ago I saw a sticker on a car window, it was a picture of Colonel Sanders & it read "I'm dead".

There is no need to violently raise and kill animals for food. This archaic practise causes a great deal of otherwise preventible human disease, destroys the global ecosystem, and inflicts unimaginable suffering on billions of animals each year - all totally unnecessarily - solely for the enrichment of big corporations (including big pharma). Wake up all you sleepwalking vampires and explore the concept of tasty, varied, inexpensive, optimum nutrition from a plant based diet. If you learn about nutrition and adopt a healthy vegan diet, then you'll experience many profound benefits, including experiencing much better health, beauty and energy, plus regaining your soul.

Bela hasn't eaten a dead animal in over 34 years now and it has become obvious to those who have known me all those years that the process of aging has slowed right down to a crawl for me. I'm the same weight now as when I was a teen athlete and my skin and muscle tone refuse to sag and wrinkle. When I eliminated almost all dairy and wheat from my diet 10 years ago I stopped getting colds and the flu.

You can choose to be victims of the propaganda that "Health" Canada spews out of it's corrupt ministerial pie hole or you can live disease free. Your choice.

Human beings that abuse and hurt animals are worse than human beings that committed murder.

But it makes me feel better knowing that animal abusers will burn in hell first and for longer too, than the murderers.

"Animals" - You are not an animal we care about because you have the freedom and ability to care for yourself. No one is breeding, abusing and locking you in a cage to kill you and eat/sell your flesh.

The only way we vote, is three times a day, with our dollars and what we put in our mouth.

"Maple Leaf has zero tolerance for animal abuse. Animal welfare guides all of our operating procedures and is a central facet of training in any facility that has animals under its care." It sure looks that way, what with all the machinery designed for a specific purpose.

Evolutionist or creationist? Evolution has us believe that we are "evolved" from animals, therefore, if animals are eaten by other animals, how then are humans different? We believe we are better because we have more intelligence, but that does not change our origins then. We eat meat because it is in our nature. Creationism says that all were created by a spiritual being. That being said, even in the Bible it describes that we are allowed to eat meat.
Just because there are those that wish to abuse animals destined for the table, doesn't mean we need to stop eating meat. Your choice is your choice. If I believe every abortion should stop because you are brutally, yes brutally, murdering humans as a fetus, I'm not going to go undercover to video the process, even if it meant saving the lives of countless children. If the government is going to listen to one activist group, they should be listening to them all, otherwise it's prejudism.
