It may have been one of the most poorly kept secrets in Hollywood, but it’s now official: the old gang is getting back together.

In an announcement earlier this morning, Lucasfilm revealed that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill are returning as Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.

In a brief press release, the studio also revealed that Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) will also be reprising their roles from the earlier Star Wars films.

New cast members include John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Mr. Selfridge), Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Domnhall Gleeson (The Harry Potter series), and Max von Sydow (Strange Brew).

The as-of-yet untitled film, which begins filming later this month at Pinewood Studios in England, will be directed by J.J. Abrams with a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan. John Williams is also returning to compose the musical score.

The release date is scheduled for December 18, 2015.

Max von Sydow is so proud you mentioned 'Strange Brew' instead of totally over-rated 'Pelle The Conqueror'.

Doug, the guy was in a lot of great movies, but you can't mention "rush hour 3"?

Max Von Sydow (Strange Brew) reminds me a lot of Michael Caine (Jaws 4), Marlon Brando (The Island of Dr Moreau), and Orson Welles (The Transformers Movie)...

What, they couldn't find something for Warwick Davis to do?

Regarding the Max von Sydow comment: the great Bob Hoskins died today, and CNN called him "the star of <em>Who Framed Roger Rabbit</em>". That was it.
