Record Store Day--the annual celebration of independent record stores and record-store culture--has chosen Bay Area earbusters Metallica as its 2016 ambassador.

      That's pretty rockin'.

“Independent record stores are part of Metallica’s DNA,” said drummer Lars Ulrich in a statement. “They have been pivotal in shaping each one of us into the music fanatics we’ve all become.

"We could not be any prouder to be Record Store Day Ambassadors for 2016," Ulrich added, "and are looking forward to screaming from every rooftop the next few months about everything independent record store and beyond.”

This year, Record Store Day is set for Saturday, April 16. To celebrate the occasion, Metallica will officially release Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! - Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France - June 11th, 2003. It's a CD (sorry vinyl freaks) recorded at the venue attacked by ISIS terrorists last November. Proceeds from its sale will support Give For France, which helps victims of the horrific attack.

The track list includes “The Four Horsemen”, “Leper Messiah”, “No Remorse”, “Fade To Black”, “Frantic”, “Ride The Lightning”, “Blackened”, “Seek & Destroy”, and “Damage, Inc".

      That's pretty rockin' too.
