Who Did Your Ink?: Nomi Chi casts net far and wide when sourcing her body art

Who Did Your Ink? is the Straight’s weekly feature, where we ask badass Vancouverites about the talented artists, indelible stories, and, at times, questionable antics behind their most treasured tattoos.

      Whats your name? Nomi Chi.

Who did your ink? So many people! My newest additions are from Eckel at Sanitary Electric Tattoo (3377 Fraser Street), Joel Rich at Black Medecine Tattoo (411 Gore Avenue), Boone Naka at Gastown Tattoo Parlour (105 West Cordova Street), and Brody Polinsky.

Why did you choose these artists to do your tattoos? I choose to get tattooed by folks whose work resonates with me and/or because I am simply impressed with them as human beings.

Is there any meaning behind them? Yes, but meaning isn't always evident in the images themselves and I often keep that element of my tattoos private.

Whos your favourite local tattoo artist? Vancouver is overrun with talented tattooers and it'd be impossible to pick just one. Lately, I have been ogling tattoos made by Shannon Elliott and Katie So at Black Medicine Tattoo, and Dylan Homer at Tattoo Union (175 East Broadway).
