      The 37th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place at Jericho Beach Park on July 18 to 20. The festival will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday (July 18), and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (July 19 to 20).

      The Vancouver Folk Music Festival will feature over 60 artists and groups from 12 different countries covering diverse genres, including folk, world, and roots music. This year’s roster includes celebrated names and up-and-coming artists.

      Performing for the first time at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival is legendary folksinger Joan Baez, who will perform on the festival’s main stage on Saturday night. Other popular indie-folk voices appearing at this year’s festival include Andrew Bird and the Hands of Glory, Amos Lee, Great Lake Swimmers, Wintersleep, Born Ruffians, and more.

      From the world-music circuit comes Seun Kuti, who will perform with his father’s Fela’s band, Egypt 80. Also appearing is Mauritania’s Noura Mint seymali, Mexico’s La Manta, Mozambique’s Banda Kakana, Korea’s Dulsori, Italy’s Beppe Gambetta and Riccardo Tesi & Banditaliana, Australia’s Wild Wagons, and Scotland’s Karine Polwart.

      North American highlights include Toronto’s Lemon Bucket Orchestra,tThe Howlin’ Brothers, Ashleigh Flynn & the Back Porch Majority, Eliza Gilkyson, Rose Cousins, and Mary Lambert.

      Tickets to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival start at $40 and are available online in advance. Early bird discounts will be available until Saturday (June 14) at 11:59 p.m.
