Lululemon suggests Beyoncé is copying its shtick, gets blacklisted by her fans
Yesterday (March 31), Beyoncé, seeming queen of the Internet and all things ***flawless, released details surrounding her new high-performance athleisure line, Ivy Park. She launched a website, Instagram account, and a reflective, flashback-induced monologue for the occasion.
Shortly after, Vancouver-based yoga house Lululemon replied to a random tweet that asked, “is ivy park supposed to be like lululemon?” And when we say random, we mean totally, utterly, and completely random: the company isn’t tagged in the tweet, nor do either parties follow each other on Twitter.
Beyoncé fans were not happy with the now-deleted tweet, which implied that Beyoncé is “imitating” Lululemon.
This was a mistake. I'm sure you wanna retract this. https://t.co/CCMchdGzuO

@lululemon @GoodGuySly How? You haven't even seen the line yet. It's just simple pieces with 'Ivy Park' so far....

I eagerly await your retraction/apology https://t.co/z3IPqMNyQt

Naturally, the company immediately went into crisis-control mode, but alas, the damage had been done.
@mississippiDAWN We're fully owning this and never meant the post to be taken in a hurtful way.

Lulu has since returned to replying to random mentions on Twitter, though it looks to be steering clear of the Beyhive.
In related news, Ivy Park drops online on Nordstrom, Topshop, and Zalando on April 14.
