A Vancouver restaurant chain is planning to open its first North Shore location in spring 2015. Construction of the Tap & Barrel’s North Vancouver restaurant will begin at Lonsdale Quay this summer.

"We are very pleased to welcome Tap & Barrel restaurant to the City of North Vancouver waterfront," Darrell Mussatto, North Vancouver mayor, stated in a news release today (June 23). "With its commitment to sustainability, locally sourced food and drink and accessibility for all ages, Tap & Barrel reflects the City's vision for a vibrant and inclusive central waterfront destination."

The Tap & Barrel, which is owned by Daniel Hospitality Group, opened its first location at the Olympic Village (1 Athletes Way) in 2012. Last year, they unveiled a second location at Jack Poole Plaza (1055 Canada Place). The restaurant offers comfort-food dishes, a large selection of craft beers, and B.C. wines on tap.

“"We are thrilled and honoured that Tap & Barrel Restaurants has been selected for the Coppersmith Shop at The Shipyards, and we look forward to being a part of the fabric of this important redevelopment of Lower Lonsdale,” Daniel Frankel, president and CEO of Tap & Barrel Restaurants, said in a press statement. “Waterfront locations such as this are rare, and with our experience we feel that we will contribute to the growing success of the City of North Vancouver's waterfront.”
