Foodies with a sweet tooth will be thrilled to know that a highly anticipated new bakery is opening Thursday (April 7) in North Vancouver’s Edgemont Village.

Pastry chef Tamera Clark will launch BjornBar Bakery, which specializes in classic dessert bars and will carry more than 30 types. The website describes the bakery's concept as "home-style baking with a sophisticated edge" and "elevated nostalgic baking".

It will offer lunch items as well, such as soups, salads, quiche, sausage rolls, and flatbread pizzas. Illy is the spot’s coffee bean of choice.

Originally from North Vancouver, Clark trained at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts. She spent the last few years running Montreal’s successful Rustique Pie Kitchen and previously worked as a pastry chef in Australia, Europe and the Caribbean.

Clark, who named BjornBar Bakery after her brother, was nominated for a Notable Award in Montreal’s 2014 Top Pasty Chef ranking and appeared as a featured chef in the Montreal Cooks cookbook.

BjornBar Bakery is at 3053 Edgemont Boulevard. It will be open from 8 am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 9 am to 6 pm Sunday.
